Founded in 1913, Lakeland College is located on two campuses in Vermilion and Lloydminster, Alberta. The Environmental programming began in the early 1970’s and has expanded over the years. The Environmental Sciences Department is part of the larger School of Energy and Environmental Sciences at Lakeland College.
We offer diploma programs in Environmental Conservation and Reclamation, Conservation and Restoration Ecology, Environmental Monitoring and Protection, and Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation. Also offered is a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree program in Environmental Management, which consists of 8 months in-class training and 8 months of practicum in industry. Our certificate and diploma program in Renewable Energy and Conservation covers various topics in the emerging field such as solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, small wind energy, geo-exchange design, bio-energy and biogas, and is offered online and on-site at Lakeland’s state-of-the-art Centre for Sustainable Innovation (CSI) facility. The Environmental Sciences programs maintain a strong field component with numerous collaborations with industry partners.
