Shaping the Election Conversation: How to use elections to promote your issues

Cost: $25

Election campaigning isn’t necessarily telling people who to vote for, it’s telling them what to vote for. Elections are an opportunity to raise awareness of your issues, engage your current supporters and gain new ones.

Whether you’re a small charity, non-profit or larger organization, making your issue top of mind for politicians and voters doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and repetition. With elections on the horizon in Ontario, Nova Scotia and the Yukon, and a minority federal government that could go to an election any time, it’s time to start laying the groundwork. But it’s a crowded marketplace – how to do you get your voice to cut through? Who do you target, what do you want them to do, and what can you say to bring them along?

In this session we will talk about:
  • When to start focusing on the election
  • Identifying your audiences and your call to action
  • Tactics
  • Refining your message
  • Paid media
  • Organizing and engaging your online community
Skill level: Your organization has some capacity to mobilize a community, either online or in person.

Experience: Some experience organizing for action, some campaign experience

*A recording of the webinar and the presentation slides will be provided to registrants following the presentation.
